Applicants must be either be working in or retired from a rural occupation and must meet the following eligibility criteria

 

To be eligible to apply:

1. Applicants must have been continuously resident in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly for the last 5 years, or have previously lived in the county for 8 or more years up to the age of 21.  (This is to allow young people who have been away to college)

 

2. Annual household income must be insufficient to purchase or rent a property on the open market.  A financial assessment will be made.

 

3. Applicants must be either

a)    retiring from an agricultural or other rural business; or

a)    embarking on employment, or employed within, an agricultural or other rural business that does not provide housing; or

b)    vacating a non-viable rural business and thereby losing their home

The property has upside-down accommodation, with 2 bedrooms and bathroom on the ground floor and an open plan kitchen / living room on the upper floor.

The monthly rent is £650pcm, and there is an annual service charge of approximately £300 per year.

 Priority will be given to potential tenants who meet the criteria of the charity.
