Support our work

By leaving a gift in your Will, you can help us to respond and serve the farming community long into the future.

A gift left to a charity can ease the burden of Inheritance Tax and can ensure your generosity keeps on making a difference for years to come. A gift can be any size and it will not prevent you from providing for your family. As little as 1% to Addington Fund in your Will makes such a difference and still means your loved ones get 99%.

Every adult should have a Will, regardless of age, income or wealth. It is the only way to ensure your wishes are met after death. Yet, one in five people in the UK die without one, which can cause extra distress for loved ones.

If you are considering making a Will, it is important to use the services of a professional Will maker, such as a solicitor. If you already have a Will and you are considering making changes to it, your solicitor can advise on how this is usually done using a written instruction called a Codicil. Making a Will is quick and easy to do and if you wish to remember us then you only need to tell your solicitor our registered charity name and number [Addington Fund, Charity Number 1097092] - it’s that simple!

Here are four ways you can support our work by remembering us in your Will:

- By gifting the remainder of your estate after all payments and other wishes are fulfilled

– By gifting a predetermined sum of money

– By leaving us something specific (property, stocks and shares, etc)

– By requesting that we receive your gift after death of another beneficiary.

 Testimonial

“How to ensure our small 50-acre farm could remain as a valuable part of the farming scene after we have passed on has long been a concern for us. We have no direct descendants, and our greatest wish is that all the work that we have put into improving grassland, planting trees, developing a species rich meadow, and maintaining some lovely old farm buildings, could be appreciated and used by future generations.

After much searching, we have finally left our farm to the Addington Fund. They have a property management team handling farms scattered throughout England and Wales and are committed to upholding the wishes of their benefactors. To us the most important factor is Addington's determination to provide opportunities for new entrants into farming, whether by providing a first step on the ladder for a young family, or a home for a retiring farmer thus allowing their sons or daughters to take over the family farm.”

Leave a property

Given the long-term nature of our work, a legacy of property is particularly appropriate. Both houses and farms can help us to benefit families for future generations, including those in our New Entrants Scheme.

Leaving us shares

Daily stocks and shares report in the newspaper

We have a portfolio of shares, which provides income for our grant giving and is a long-term asset. All gifts of shares are welcome, including those in small quantities that would be uneconomic to sell.

If you would like to talk to us about leaving a gift in your Will, how it will make a difference to how we will support farming communities long-term, or let us now you have already made this pledge please call Jo on 01926 620135 (option 1) or email her directly on jowebb@addingtonfund.org.uk

Such is the enormity of the task in hand we are always looking for ways to raise money and for volunteers to help. Legacies, corporate donations from company trusts and individual donations are always welcome.
